Methodology
STD › DecarbNexus Standards Ontology
A documented, repeatable procedure for quantifying an environmental outcome — such as GHG emission reductions, removals, or a product’s carbon footprint — approved or published by a governing body for application across multiple activities or products of a given type, typically specifying how a baseline or reference case is established and how outcomes are subsequently monitored, verified, and reported (adapted from the UNFCCC CDM Glossary of Terms, Version 11.0 (2022), s.v. ‘Approved methodology’ and ‘Baseline and monitoring methodology’).

| scopeNote | Not disjoint with dno-std:Standard: a document is frequently both — e.g. a Product Category Rule or a CDM methodology is simultaneously a methodology (a quantification procedure) and a standard (a compliance basis) — and is typed with both classes where that is the case. |
